OLのスミレと結婚をして共働きの夫婦生活を始めて2年…太郎はスミレが家事を満足にやらない事に少しの不満を抱いていた。そんなある日、スミレが胃腸炎で入院をする事になってしまう。その間、スミレの母・かなえが太郎の家に通い、家事を手伝う事になるのだが…。久しぶりに会ったかなえの「家庭的」な姿をまざまざと見せつけられた太郎。そして太郎の中にかなえに対して、「義母」をこえた感情がわいてきて…。
