死神学校の生徒で死神見習い、死人（しにびと）であるモカ=ギルバートは、鎌に変身することの出来る武器人（ぶきびと）ハート=ドランカーと共に、人の道を外れし心の持ち主、切り裂きジェイソンの鬼の卵と化した心臓を回収することに成功した。その殺害報告を死神にすると鬼神（おにがみ）復活の知らせが。鬼神退治を命じられるモカとハート。恐怖のオーラを放つ鬼神の圧倒的な強さに全く歯が立たない二人であったが、死神の助けで何とか逃げ延びる。
