都内某所。製薬会社に対し、薬品の原料等を販売する某会社の営業部。ここの営業部は、この業界内でも急激に売上げを伸ばし始めていた。しかし、理由があった。何故なら、先の見えない不況を乗り切る打開策の一環として、士気を発揚させる為に、社長賞という名の特別ボーナスを支給していた。他の部署には無い制度。ここの営業部に対してのみだ。そして今日は、月恒例の社長賞の日。営業部全員が、皆ゴクリとつばを飲む。午前十時に差し掛かった所で、部長が発表する瞬間を待ちわびていた…給料一ヶ月分に相当する社長賞。
