高校の美術教師のみゆきは生徒の斎藤、鈴木、中山、美香の4人をつれて、画家・中河雄山の別荘を訪れた。雄山は以前、みゆきが指導を受けた、画壇の大家だが、今は第一線を退いて美大の教授をしている。その縁でみゆきが美大志望の4人のテストを頼んだのだ。雄山は優秀な生徒一人だけを推薦入学させてくれることになった。
