夫と平凡な暮らしをしている妻のななこ。ある日、水道が壊れて修理を依頼すると、やってきた作業員は一見冴えない青年・川瀬充。充は実家の工務店を継ぐ為、上京し修業をしているそうだ。早速修理をしてもらうが、水道からは水が噴き出す。頑張り屋だが充はドジらしい。それから数日後、会社を首になって変わり果てた姿の充と出会ったななこは、一晩だけ彼の傍に居てあげたい…と、ペンを取り夫への偽りの手紙を書くのだった…。
