未亡人の雅子は、地方の温泉旅館・阿久の湯を一人で切り盛りしている。姪っ子の律子は、東京で短大を卒業してからずっとこの旅館を手伝っていた。事故死した夫・郁夫は、律子と浮気した姦淫罪で地獄に落とされ、彼の幽霊は地上をさまよっている。そんなある日、リストラに遭い自殺を決意した栗夫が旅館にやって来た。何と、彼は郁夫に瓜二つだった…。
