秩父にほど近い温泉街の旅館の女将・双葉は夫の支配人・勇から旅行ガイドのライターがお忍びで取材にやって来るという噂を聞き、それらしき男に過剰接待をしてしまう。それに焼餅を焼く勇に、横恋慕している仲居の邦子が言い寄る。ある日やって来た客は、邦子の元同僚だった。ある嘘をついていた邦子を笑う同僚に、双葉は決然と対する。そして、双葉と勇はこれからも旅館を守っていこうと誓い合うのだった。
