戦争が終わり復員兵がポツポツ帰ってきている頃、裕次郎は按摩をしながらシベリアに抑留された兄・健太郎の帰りを待っていた。健太郎は佳代子（成宮いろは）という女性のことが好きだったが、佳代子は他の男と結婚し、その男も戦死したので佳代子は未亡人となった。ある日、裕次郎の家に復員兵がやってきて健太郎の死を報せる。佳代子に想いを寄せていた裕次郎はある決断をする。
